Finding more and more Independent candidates

As you know I have been seeking previous Independent candidates that ran in the last federal election. I have been going through a list I found on the web. Everyone I have been able to find using facebook, canada 411, and search engines is really gung ho to get this new political party going. This is getting very exciting and it appears we are very close now to having enough members to register! Soon very soon!

Interview on 570 News AM radio

Today I had the opportunity to be interviewed about CAMP and the forming of a new political party. The show had an overwhelming positive response from call in people who were very interested in knowing more. I fielded all sorts of questions and definetely created interest.

This along with our online conferences are starting to make an impact. More and more people are joining on the bandwagon now. It is exciting to see.
The next online conference will be held on March 27th at 8:30 pm and you are encouraged to join in. All you need to join in is a free download of SKYPE and a set of speakers hooked up to your computer and a microphone.
Hope to see you there

Online voting feasibility

We have been asked many times now if online voting can actually be utilized. Many people seem to think it would be difficult to implement. In an effort to find out we consulted with a Canadian company that is directly involved with setting up municipal elections for Halifax Nova Scotia. Intelivote Systems Inc. successfully conducted a municipal vote for the Halifax area. They were questioned by CAMP as to how easy it would be to do a federal election. There response was that it would be even easier than a municipal election. In fact they told us that they are presently talking with British Columbia, Ontario, and Nova Scotia in setting up provincial elections.Typically the system would be set up as follows:Each person would receive a pin number card exclusive to them that has been generated from the official voter list. This would allow electronic control of one vote per person.Online or phone in voting would begin one week before the usual walk in poll. This time period is necessary to prevent an ISP overload. The electronic voting would end, a print out would be created that would have anyone who voted electronically to be stroked off on the list. The list would be kept confidential and delivered to the walk in polling station to be used as it is presently to continue stroking off people who walk in and vote. The system is secure and simple and completely within the realm of doing. Canadian Politics

Well it has to be said that Canadian politics have finally got the attention of Canadians. We are now in a time where politics are changing by the minute and it is hard to keep up. Just last week we were thinking that a coalition government was going to be in control of our country. Now, at this point it is not as one of the main parties involved in the coalition has no official leader. So what are we as Canadians left with then? Well, we have the minority conservatives in power and they have prorogued parliament until January 26, 2009. They do not have to officially hold a day in parliament though until December 4 of 2009, as parliament only needs to sit once a year. We will see what happens in the next month and a half.

Amidst all the conflict and exciting times we are now in with Canadian politics, we at CAMP are finding that support for our party is slowly growing daily. We are on our way to becoming a registered party. People are realizing in politics that right now they really have no option except for CAMP that truely will work for them and listen to them. Soon our website will be live online and it will be easier for people to see what we are all about and join us as we bring Canada back to the true state of democracy that it is supposed to be. We are looking for people like you who would be willing to join us in our journey. If you are interested in joining us, we would be happy to have you as a member our our party. All you have to do at this point to join is send an email to camp_308_2008@hotmail.com with your name, address, and phone number to join. Your information will be kept confidential.
We look forward to building a better Canada with you!!!

Obama and Canada

Well now that the U.S. election is over it will be interesting to see what sort of issues will develop between the U.S. and Canada in every aspect of the free trade agreement, soft wood lumber agreements along with oil coming out of the west heading south.
I really don't feel comfortable as a Canadian with the economy the way it is now and what might transpire between our minority government and Obama's group.
Time will tell as to how the democrats will treat Canada.
Hopefully the CAMP party can perform the similar rise as Obama did in the U.S.
We continue to grow slowly with out a website. The website will be up and running soon so that we can actually have a solid web presence for people to visit and read our information and actually join us in this exciting undertaking.
We need all the help we can get in growing our membership, and finally giving hope to all Canadians with a our fair and honest approach to politics.
Let's hope we don't slide into a recession like the U.S. is now treading water in.
Analyzing the past 8 years of Bush politics, it isn't hard to see why a recession is happening.
Poor management of their country from their armed forces heavy handedness and the spending that requires, along with lack of financial controls on the mortgage sector and banking industry has surely helped to fuel this recession.
Canada will fair slightly better but when your swimming in the same pond with a floundering whale your bound to have a tough time of it.
Let's not let Canada fall into the same state by holding onto the old style politics and old boys club that has been in Ottawa under the two party banners of Conservative or Liberal. We are the party of real change, with a dynamic platform that will always address the current issues at hand. We are the party that will bring the young people back to the voting table by modernizing the way people vote. Online voting is the absolute logical and modern way to vote for the future, and this alone is the only pre-election platform item we will strive to obtain first. Once in power we would poll Canadians as to what they want their government to address and solve.
Notice I said their government! No more 4 year dictatorship even when we win by a landslide!

Online Voting - the way of the future

Online voting is a subject that up until now has not been instituted into the Canadian Electoral system. That is going to change. In today's fast paced world with a younger generation that rely on computers so heavily in everyday life, we need to have online voting available. After questioning some young people about the recent election we just had in October 2008, I was not surprised to find that many of them did not vote. The reason they didn't vote is because it would have taken too much time to figure out where there polling station was. They just couldn't be bothered. In generations past, the polling station was the best and only option available for voting and it has served it's purpose, but in today's fast paced world, we are seeing that they are not very effective at all for getting people to vote. That is why it is the number 1 priority for the Canadian Alternative Members Party (CAMP) to have this instituted into Canadian Politics as one of the ways that people will be able to vote in future elections. With voter turnout being at an all time low of 58% in the last election, we have nothing to lose by instituting online voting.
